Escalating geopolitical tensions in the Black Sea have tightened global grain supply expectations, driving sharp gains in Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) December wheat futures. The contract hit the intraday expanded limit up of 45 cents, reaching a session high of USD 7.4825 per bushel and marking a new recent peak.

Continuous attacks on Black Sea ports and shipping infrastructure have sharply raised operational risks for this critical global grain corridor. As one of the world’s top wheat export regions, mounting disruptions to Black Sea shipments have triggered widespread supply shortage concerns, pushing up the risk premium of wheat futures and lifting the overall US grain market.

The rally is driven entirely by supply-side uncertainties from intensified regional conflicts. Surging Black Sea shipping insurance premiums and disrupted grain export schedules have fueled a strong rebound in international wheat prices. The bullish sentiment has also spilled over to corn and soybean markets, putting upward cost pressure on Middle Eastern and North African countries that rely heavily on Black Sea grain imports.
